    How GenAI is shaping strategic thinking in business. Drawing from academic research and real-world collaborations, Willem-Jan explores how GenAI influences strategic decision-making and organizational transformation.
  • 16:00 – 16:30 | Keynote: The business perspective

    Experiences from the field: how one of our partners is approaching GenAI strategy in practice.
  • 16:30 – 17:30 | Breakout sessions / Roundtable discussions
    Guided discussions to reflect on the themes raised in the keynotes.

    Each table will be moderated, with space for interaction and exchange.

About the speakers: Prof. Dr. Willem Jan van den Heuvel

Willem-Jan van den Heuvel is a full professor in Computer Science with a strong focus on applied AI and data-driven business innovation. He has authored over 200 publications and contributed to numerous Dutch and EU research projects in AI and software engineering. As an active contributor to interdisciplinary education and research at JADS, he helps bridge academic insight and business relevance. Willem-Jan has held visiting positions at institutions including UC Berkeley, Sapienza University (Rome), and the Polytechnic University of Milan.

As Lead AI Specialist at CM.com, I help organizations strategically implement AI to maximize customer value. Whether it’s Agentic AI in customer care and marketing, or traditional machine learning methods in marketing automation, I guide companies in selecting and implementing the right AI solutions.

My approach focuses on understanding each organization’s unique challenges and identifying processes that benefit from automation. By combining smart AI applications with human expertise, we create more efficient workflows and enhance the consumer experience.

Together with my team, I strive to make AI accessible and impactful for businesses, so they can serve their customers in the best possible way.

An Initiative from the JADS EngD Program

This event is an initiative of the Engineering Doctorate (EngD) program in Data Science at JADS — a two-year, paid post-master’s program where trainees work on real data and AI challenges for companies. The event reflects the EngD’s goal: connecting academic insights with practical business needs.
